Where true beauty lies, with Phoebe Stuart

Episode #34

When Phoebe Stuart was 18, she was a carefree, hockey-playing, party-loving university student embarking on a law degree. Then, without warning, she contracted a devastating mystery illness that ultimately took her legs, her left hand, and much of her vision.

Today, Phoebe is a lawyer, a writer, a keynote speaker, and the mother of two gorgeous little boys.  Her inspiring story invites us all to think about the meaning of true beauty, and to recognise the qualities we all have inside to keep us going when things get tough.

Join Shelley as she chats to Phoebe about:

  • The mystery illness that changed her life forever
  • What it was like to adjust to her new body and life
  • How she realised that despite her injuries, she was still herself on the inside – and how crucial that realisation was to her rehabilitation
  • How challenges can reveal what we’ve had inside us all along
  • Her advice for rising up during times of adversity and how to be there for others when they’re going through hard times
  • Her rituals for health and wellbeing
